I was classically trained, and somewhere along the way I ended up studying both chemistry and fine art at university — which probably tells you something about how my brain works. My painting started in abstraction, loose and free, and evolved into live performance art at music festivals. I painted on stage alongside some incredible artists and learned to create in front of crowds, in the middle of chaos, with music shaking the floor beneath me.

Then life did what life does — it taught me something I wasn't expecting.

I found myself with a German Shepherd named Jack. He lived with me for four years before passing at the age of fifteen. And when Jack left, there was a hole in my heart I never knew existed. I had never loved anyone — or anything — that deeply.

Two years ago, I had a dream about him. Jack was chasing an energy ball with a huge smile and his tongue hanging out the side of his mouth, just like always. When I woke up, an entire story was already fully formed in my head. I don't know where it came from. I just know it was there, whole and vivid, the moment I opened my eyes.

Since then I haven't been able to stop painting it. The story of Jack the Space Dog lives in my mind and it needs to get out — otherwise it drives me a little mad. That's just how it works.

The thing about painting is that each canvas captures only a single moment. A glimpse. The whole universe is still swimming around in my head while I work. Last year I held a gallery reveal, and people kept stopping me to ask: but what's the actual story? I realized it was time to find a way to release it into the world.

So I recorded it. The fastest way I know to get something out of my mind and into yours.
